  • Orthoses designed for external modification of the structural and/or functional characteristics of the spine, providing immobilization and support. These orthoses typically consist of rigid or semi-rigid (e.g., corsets, collars) malleable structures with elastic fabric bands (e.g., thoracic, pelvic, lumbosacral) having appropriate physical characteristics (e.g., shape, consistency) to encircle the body at a particular area of the spine.
