?:definition
  • Immunoassay reagents intended to perform qualitative and/or quantitative analyses of body fluids to determine ceruplasmin (CER), the principal copper-containing protein in human plasma and one of the acute-phase reactants. Decreased levels of ceruplasmin combined with increased copper concentration are associated with an inherited disease characterized by a defect in the metabolism of copper (Wilson\'s disease, also called hepatolenticular degeneration). Increased CER levels are common in infections, trauma, biliary duct obstruction, and Hodgkin\'s disease.
