Total lower-limb orthoses designed for maximum restriction of movements and/or total immobilization of a lower limb. These orthoses may consist of a variety of devices using different techniques (e.g., direct mechanical forces, pulleys, springs) that apply traction while immobilizing the lower limb. Traction splint lower-limb orthoses are intended for application after manual traction has been used to properly align a limb. The orthoses are mainly used for immediate treatment after lower-limb fractures.
