Multipurpose pre-shaped splints that are designed for customization to the appropriate shape to fit the user\'s needs at the point of care. These devices typically consist of a thin metallic (e.g., aluminum) and/or thermosetting plastic splint sheet that can be modified to a limited degree according to the body part and the needs of the patient. Pre-shaped splint orthoses are intended mainly for emergency treatment of patients suffering fractures, sprains, dislocations, and/or other injuries of the limbs, neck, and/or other body parts. Aluminum and plastic pre-shaped moldable splints are available; dedicated pre-shaped orthoses intended for a particular body part (e.g., arm, forearm, leg) are also available.
