Exploratory probes designed for introduction into the urethra and that are intended mainly for exploratory purposes. These devices typically consist of a slender metallic or plastic cylinder that can be passed through the urethra. They may be attached to a handle at the proximal end; they can be flexible or rigid. Urethral exploratory probes are intended for locating obstructions, measuring, and/or to provide better visualization of the urethral passage. Urethral probes intended for cryosurgical procedures are also available.
