  • A standardized questionnaire originally developed by John Rankin in 1957, and later modified by Van Swieten et al in 1988, which is used to assess the degree of disability or dependence in the daily activities of individuals who have suffered a stroke. It also allows comparison between subjects with different kinds of neurologic deficits.
