?:definition
  • Anatomic models designed to resemble the skeleton of a human body. These models consist of an accurate three-dimensional total or partial representation of the skeleton (i.e., the bony framework of the body), including the complete skeleton or only the appropriate components (e.g., cranium, ribs, spine, limb bones) needed for the intended purpose. Skeleton anatomic models are made of natural (e.g., bones, wood, metals) and or synthetic (e.g., plastics, silicone rubber) materials or a combination of these. Skeleton anatomic models are used for demonstration and learning the different structures of the skeleton; they may be used in combination with other dedicated devices as components of training simulators for particular examination, therapeutic, surgical, or postmortem procedures.
