Prepackaged collections of the necessary devices and supplies (either custom or standard) needed for delivery of implantable cardiac valves to the appropriate locations in or surrounding the heart. Items in these kits usually include (1) the implantable endoprostheses (i.e., the cardiac valve that may include an attached stent), (2) catheters that include a compliant section near the distal end for valve delivery and deployment, (3) a dilator set, and (4) balloons to facilitate implant deployment. The valve is introduced in the vasculature (e.g., through the femoral vein) or transapically until it reaches the appropriate position then the catheter is retracted; the procedure is performed using fluoroscopic guidance for insertion and checking proper functioning of the valve. These kits include catheters and balloons that are available in a variety of sizes to fit patient needs; they are used in a percutaneous transcatheter procedures intended for implantation of cardiac valves that may be configured for delivery of a particular type of cardiac valve (e.g., pulmonary, mitral, aortic).
