Turntables designed for use in clinical laboratories. These turntables are usually heavy duty devices made of chemically resistant plastics (e.g., PVC), metals (e.g., stainless steel), or a combination of these materials. The turntables include a manual or powered rotatory mechanism to provide a circular motion to an upper platform that may include several compartments on each of one or more vertical tiers (also known as a rotating shelf). Laboratory turntables are mostly used to store and facilitate handling and accessibility of a variety of devices, supplies, and/or laboratory products. Laboratory turntables may also be used in other areas of healthcare facilities with similar conditions (e.g., pharmacies and research areas). Some dedicated laboratory turntables are intended for a particular use such as Petri dish inoculation, sample handling, and chromatography procedures.
