Containers designed to provide appropriate conditions (e.g., mechanical protection, temperature, humidity) during transportation of products using mail services or other transportation means. These containers may consist of one of a variety of devices (boxes, tubes, envelopes) made of different shapes, materials, and sizes and/or having other special characteristics appropriate for the products to be transported and the transportation conditions. The containers may provide appropriate protection for fragile materials, insulation to preserve temperature-sensitive materials (e.g., clinical samples), and/or special pockets to separate and facilitate the transportation of several objects simultaneously. Dedicated transport containers are available for preserving of food and biological products using thermal isolation with and without refrigerating agents (e.g., wet and dry ice); some containers are specific for a given product (e.g., blood products transportation). Portable and mobile transport containers are also available. Transport containers are used in healthcare facilities to send and/or collect clinical (i.e., laboratory) samples, microscope slides, blood and blood products, and other sensitive or fragile products; the containers may be intended either for single use or reuse.
