Data management information systems designed to record, process, and display comprehensive financial, management, and technical information regarding the assets of hospitals and/or other healthcare facilities, facilitating the performance of maintenance using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMSs). These systems typically include a combination of hardware (e.g., a local standard or customized network including workstations, dedicated servers, and links) and software that provides real-time information on each of the facility assets such as medical devices and information technology (IT) equipment. Asset/maintenance information systems are intended to provide data about each asset\'s current condition, maintenance history, useful lifecycle status and safety/regulatory compliance as well as to track the preventive maintenance, repairs, and inventories on equipment following a CMMS program. The systems are mainly used by the clinical engineering staff and other facility management departments; some dedicated systems only provide some of the capabilities (e.g., inventory and maintenance of devices, assets management).
