Surgical retractor kits designed for use during procedures involving a joint (articulation) tissue. The retractor kits permit the temporary separation and retention of tissues (e.g., periosteal tissue) in a joint, exposing and providing access to other tissues, bones, or structures of the joint. These retractor kits are typically a combination of manual, handheld instruments available in a variety of shapes and sizes according to the tissue of the articulation that is retracted and/or the anatomical structure to be exposed. Dedicated joint tissue retractor kits are available for use in many particular joints, such as the knee, shoulder, and hip.
