Surgical retractors designed to temporarily separate and hold back tissues other than bone (e.g., periosteal tissue) in the elbow joint, exposing and providing access to other tissues, bones, or structures of the joint during orthopedic procedures. These retractors are typically manual, handheld instruments available in a variety of shapes and sizes and are selected according to the tissue of the shoulder articulation that is to be retracted and/or the anatomical structure to be exposed. The retractors frequently include double-ended instruments with bent distal ends (e.g., cobra style) to facilitate tissue retraction. Elbow joint tissue retractors are used in many orthopedic reconstructive procedures and/or after trauma.
