Stylets designed for use in the lumen of cannulae intended for insertion in the coronary arteries; the stylet is usually withdrawn after the insertion of the cannulae. These stylets typically are very thin metallic wires or flexible rods that provide a rigid or semi-rigid structure permitting the catheter to be connected to a tube, catheter, or connector for the injection or withdrawal of medicines, intravenous solutions, and/or drugs into the coronary arteries.
