  • Tables and platforms designed to provide isolation and/or cancellation on their surface from floor vibrations. The devices are intended for use while performing tests using equipment that is sensitive to motion and vibration. These tables and platforms include one of a variety of passive or, less frequently, active isolation systems. Passive systems may include pneumatic, honeycomb or other type of isolators while active systems use semiconductors and are based on feedback techniques that may provide better vibration isolation or cancellation that is not possible with passive systems. Floor vibration tables and platforms are used for delicate measurements and/or in other delicate procedures such as those performed using microtomes, cell injection, and optical and electronic microscopy, including scanning tunnel and confocal laser scanning microscopy.
