  • Peripheral vascular stents designed to be expanded using a high-pressure balloon, applying a constant radial pressure to the duct walls after being delivered through an appropriate stent-delivery system into the iliac arteries. These stents are usually braided metallic (e.g., stainless steel, platinum, cobalt-chromium alloys) devices; some stents are radiopaque or include radiopaque markers for accurate positioning into the iliac arteries. Iliac balloon-expandable peripheral stents are used to form a scaffold that holds the arteries open in patients with stenotic lesions in the common and/or external iliac arteries. The stents may be also used to prevent restenosis caused by vessel recoil and/or remodeling of the iliac arteries.
