Systems designed for management of patient motion due to breathing during radiotherapy planning and treatment (i.e., interfraction and intrafraction respectively). These systems usually consist of a set of sensors to detect the characteristics of the thorax and abdomen movement during the breathing cycle as well as a mechanism that triggers the imaging and/or radiotherapy administration systems at the proper time according to the position of the tumor. Patient breathing motion management systems are mainly used during image-guided radiotherapy imaging, simulation, and treatment procedures.
