Switches designed to automatically transfer from one cylinder to another when the gas (either carbon dioxide or nitrogen) in the first cylinder is depleted. These switches consist of an electromechanical unit that monitors the gas supply; the unit includes one input port for each of the gas cylinders and an outlet port that is connected to the equipment using the gas supply (e.g., incubator, oxygen hood). When the gas (CO2 or N2) from the active cylinder is depleted, the unit automatically switches the supply to the second cylinder, usually causing an alarm to alert. CO2/N2 Gas cylinder depletion switches are used to provide an uninterrupted supply of gas.
