Switches designed to facilitate the connection and switching of multiple electric signals, including biosignals and signals from electric and/or electronic devices. These switches typically consist of a multiport box that can connect and commute simultaneously the electric signals from the patient leads and also from a variety of medical devices such as electric stimulators, pacemakers, defibrillators, electrocardiographic and encephalographic recorders and monitors. The switch boxes facilitate the interconnection between the devices and with patient attached electrodes during the performance of a variety of procedures including pick-up of biosignals and cardiac defibrillation and pacing.
