  • Cervical canal dilators designed for augmenting the diameter (caliber) of the cervical canal by absorbing fluids. These cervical canal dilators usually consist of expandable conic devices that absorb endocervical and local tissue fluids causing the device to expand within the endocervix; a speculum is needed for insertion of the dilator. Hygroscopic dilators provide controlled mechanical pressure directly on the cervix as the dilator is filled.
