  • Simulators designed to mimic the sound conduction characteristics of the human mastoid bone that are mainly intended to assess and calibrate bone-conducting hearing aids. These simulators usually consist of a tabletop electromechanical device that resembles a human head and a force transducer to evaluate the output level and frequency response of the device under assessment following a given standard (e.g., ANSI, IEC). The simulator is mounted on springs to provide isolation from the table. Mastoid simulators are also used to assess the characteristics of audiometer bone vibrators.
