  • Calibrators designed to determine the accuracy of sound measuring instruments. These calibrators are usually portable, battery-operated devices, that may use one of a variety of techniques to produce a stable sound pressure, including rotating cam-piston technology. The calibrators usually perform the calibrations at one or more pre-established frequencies (e.g., 250 HZ, 500 HZ, 1 kHZ) following a given standard (e.g., ANSI, IEC). The measuring devices may be manually or automatically adjusted when the measured level is outside the intended value. Sound measuring instrument calibrators are used to calibrate sound level meters, noise dosimeters, and other sound measuring instruments; they are also used to calibrate microphone arrays.
