Switches designed to automatically transfer from one cylinder to another when the gas in the first cylinder is depleted. These switches consist of an electromechanical unit that monitors the gas supply. The unit includes one input port for each of the gas cylinders and an outlet port that is connected to the equipment using the gas supply. When the gas from the active cylinder supplying the gas is depleted, the unit automatically switches the supply to the second cylinder, usually causing an alarm to alert. Gas cylinder depletion switches are used to provide an uninterrupted supply of gas; some units are intended only for use with particular types of gases.
