Testers designed to measure the light intensity and/or the light intensity per unit area on a surface (i.e., illumination). These testers usually consist of portable handheld devices with appropriate sensors (e.g., optical), electronic circuitry, and a display to show the values of the light intensity, typically in lux or foot-candle. Light intensity testers are used to measure the light intensity of light sources (e.g., incandescent, fluorescence, LED, sodium) and to check the compliance of regulations (e.g., OSHA) related to the illumination required in healthcare areas and workplaces. Some testers are intended only to measure the intensity of the light emitted by one type of light source (e.g., LED light sources).
