Orthopedic operating tables designed for optimal patient positioning and surgical team access while performing surgery due to fracture and/or severe bone trauma. These tables usually include a base, pedestal, an upper-body radiolucent rotational support (e.g., tabletop or sacral rest padding), a perineal post, an apparatus for lower-body support (e.g., abductor bars); the table may also include other orthopedic accessories. Orthopedic tables used for surgery of bone traumas and/or fractures usually have patient positioning capabilities that allow surgery of the femur and pelvis, including hip arthroplasty, using an anterior approach to the patient thighs and hip.
