Audio players designed to reproduce (playback) sound information stored in magnetic tapes. These players usually consist of an electromechanical device that includes sound signal processors, controls, and an external slot for audio cassette tapes. The players may also include integral amplifiers and speakers or provide output to sound reproduction systems. Tape audio players are available in tabletop, rack mounted, and portable versions; most audio tape recorders include also play-back capabilities.
