  • Preserved platelets ready for transfusion to patients with particular needs. Platelets are taken from donors\' blood using a centrifugation procedure or procedures that only take specific components from a donor\'s blood (i.e., apheresis) that is not be intended for pathology tests, returning other blood components to the donor. Platelets are usually stored at room temperature under constant agitation to prevent clumping for a period not longer than five days.
