  • Preserved cryoprecipitated antihemophilic factor (cryoprecipitated AHF) is a frozen blood plasma component supplying clotting factors ready for transfusion to patients according to their particular needs. This plasma component is obtained by collecting the precipitate obtained by centrifugation of frozen fresh plasma; it usually contains fibrinogen and coagulation factors VIII, XIII, and Von Willebrand. Frozen cryoprecipitate can be stored frozen up to one year. Preserved cryoprecipitated AHF is usually stored in blood banks and mainly used to treat hemophilia, Von Willebrand disease, and as a source of fibrinogen for patients with a low-level of this clotting protein.
