  • Intracranial vascular stents designed for deployment across the opening (i.e., neck) of a brain artery aneurysm to redirect the blood flow away from the aneurysm. The redirection of the blood flow usually causes that a blood clot is left inside the aneurysm, preventing the rupture of the aneurysm and eventually resulting in the aneurysm shrink in size. These stents typically consist of a self-expanding braided flexible metallic mesh (e.g., platinum and nickel-cobalt-chromium alloys); the stent is deployed using a guide wire and a delivery catheter usually through a femoral artery.
