?:definition
  • Combinations of a cable and several (usually two) leads designed for connection between electrodes placed on the chest (typically on the right and left sides) and an apnea monitor. These combined devices typically consist of flexible wires (leads) that are completely isolated except at the electrode end (known as patient leads) and an integral cable that is connected to the leads at one end and to the apnea monitor at the other end. Apnea monitor cable/leads are used for recording and/or displaying in real time the variations of the electrical impedance in the thorax (that are interpreted as breaths); they are also used to monitor the electrical biosignals of the heart.
