Leads designed to conduct brain electrical biosignals resulting from external stimuli from intradermal electrodes or electrodes placed on the body (e.g., scalp, skin) to an impedance matching device (known as a headstage) and/or preamplifier which in turn is connected through a cable to an evoked potential (EP) unit. These leads typically consist of flexible wires (e.g., 3, 5, 12 leads) that are completely isolated except at the electrode end (known as patient leads). An electrode board is sometimes included to allow various channel-switching options. EP leads are used with equipment intended to measure and document the brain\'s electrical response to visual, auditory, or somatosensory stimuli.
