A prognostic scoring system designed to predict non-small-cell lung cancer patients who will benefit from treatment with EGFR inhibitor therapy. A serum or plasma sample is obtained from a patient and is subjected to matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization time-of-flight (MALDI-TOF) mass spectrometry. An algorithm is applied to the absorption peaks obtained and translated into a score of good or poor.
