Light sources designed to provide high intensity light typically during very short periods of time (i.e., a flash, typically in the order of a few milliseconds). These devices typically consist of a portable unit that includes a light fixture [e.g., incandescent bulb, light emitting diode (LED)], a battery, and a switch. Flash light sources are frequently attached to a photographic camera allowing the flash to be triggered and synchronized by the camera obturator. Flashlights are used to make possible taking photographic pictures in dark environmental conditions.
