Equipment designed to sterilize liquid nitrogen used in the preservation of tissue (e.g., embryos). This equipment consist of a computerized unit that delivers ultraviolet radiation to kill micro-organisms capable of living at the temperature of boiling nitrogen using minimum radiation during a short time. The equipment is available in several configurations with appropriate adapters for use in the sterilization of liquid nitrogen with living samples in a Dewar flask, small and large baths, and canisters; some equipment is designed for use in empty Dewar flasks and containers. Liquid nitrogen sterilization equipment is used in Invitro fertilization clinics and in other cryopreservation laboratories that expose the samples to direct contact with the liquid nitrogen.
