  • Environmental/gas system analyzers designed to measure and display the concentration of carbon isotopes. These analyzers usually measure the concentration of carbon isotopes, including the standard carbon-12 (close to 99% of atoms) and the most common isotope (carbon-13). The isotopes are usually determined in carbon dioxide or other carbon compounds using dedicated spectrometers. The rare isotope carbon-14 (typically one isotope in a trillion atoms) can be also measured using a process that combines equipment for sample purification, conversion into solid graphite, and a special equipment called mass spectrometry accelerator. Some dedicated carbon isotope analyzers are only intended for measurements samples from the atmosphere, liquids (frequently water or sea water), and/or solids.
