  • Physiologic monitoring systems designed for continuous monitoring bed-ridden patient position thus helping in the management of periodic patient turning. The monitoring system provides information in real time of the patient identification and room, and also about the position, movements, and time elapsed since the patient was last turned. These systems include a patient movement sensor attached to each patient chest which sends the information to an antenna typically placed in a power outlet close to the patient. The information is then wireless transmitted to a receptor that may be located on a central station, personal computer, or smart phone. Patient turn management monitoring systems provide alarms when any of the patients is not turned at the appropriate pre-schedule time and keep record of the activity and/or turning efficiency for each patient or group of patients. Some systems include capabilities for continuous sensoring in real time body pressures that may cause decubitus ulcers.
