Light sources designed to provide light illumination at the distal end of an endoscope. These devices may consist of a lamp fixture that include one of a variety of light sources [e.g., , xenon, halogen, incandescent, light emitting diodes (LED)], and a delivery system such as a fiberoptic cable; dedicated adapters are frequently necessary for particular types of endoscopes. Some battery-powered light sources may be directly attached to the proximal end of the endoscopes without using cables. Endoscope light sources are used in endoscopic procedures performed for diagnosis, therapy, or surgery.
