GAIA Level 3a Small for Gestational Age is defined by three criteria: first, weight is below the 10th percentile for gestational age; second, the newborn is weighed within the first 48 hours of life on any scale with a less than or equal to 50 g resolution, calibrated and tared to zero; third, gestational age assessed by one of the following four methods: a) Certain LMP with third trimester ultrasound; b) Certain LMP with confirmatory 2nd trimester fundal height; c) Certain LMP with birthweight; or d) Uncertain LMP with first trimester physical exam.
