GAIA Level 2 Placental Abruption is defined by two criteria: first, vaginal bleeding during the second or third trimester; second, uterine irritability (irregular, frequent uterine activity, not coalesced into clear contractions in a regular pattern) or labor without clinical signs of hypovolemic shock or coagulopathy. Alternatively, Level 2 may be defined as vaginal bleeding during the second or third trimester with clinical evidence of retroplacental clot or visually evident placental infarcts at the time of delivery.
