  • Molecular assay reagents intended for use in identifying a genetic abnormality known as loss of heterozygosity (LOH) in which one of the two copies of a given chromosomal region is lost in a subset of cells. LOH occurs in two forms: (1) copy-loss LOH, which typically involves deletion of a large chromosomal region (e.g., deletion of a chromosome arm) and (2) copy-neutral LOH, which typically involves gene conversion/mitotic recombination, in which DNA repair mechanisms result in the transfer of genetic sequence information from one chromosome copy to the other.
