  • Molecular assay reagents designed to detect a change in the length of one or more microsatellite loci, short stretches (10 to 250 base pairs) of DNA made up of repeated two- to five-letter motifs. Microsatellite instability testing typically compares DNA from a patient\'s tumor to DNA from normal cells of that patient. Changes in the length of (i.e., number of repeats present in) one or more microsatellites may be indicative of a defect in a DNA mismatch repair (MMR).
