Units that break down food service area waste, including food, disposable utensils, paper napkins, cardboard containers, and condiment packets, by grinding them into small particles, and then extract most of the moisture. Pulpers pump the liquid waste into the plumbing system while the solid waste is disposed of in a waste receptacle, which may or may not be included with the pulper. The units typically include a control unit; water flow source; grinder unit; and a dewatering unit, such as compression screen. They are frequently installed under a food service work table.
