?:definition
  • Transcutaneous electrocardiography (ECG) electrodes designed to held in place on the patient\'s skin by negative pressure (i.e., suction) within the electrode body. These reusable electrodes typically consist of a hollow, cylindrical or dome-shaped, metallic base that incorporates a lead wire terminal. The bottom of the metal base is uncovered (the skin contact surface) and a hollow rubber suction bulb is attached to the upper side of the base. Compression of the bulb followed by release after placing the electrode on the patient\'s skin keeps the electrode in place via suction.
