In vitro diagnostic tests intended to determine the sequence of nucleotides comprising the complete human genome (approximately 3 billion base pairs) of an individual or individuals. These tests typically use a shotgun sequencing approach consisting of a series of steps including fragmentation of the genomic DNA to be sequenced; library creation consisting of fragment tagging and amplification; sequence generation; and computational analysis (i.e., mapping, alignment, and variant calling).
