Filters designed to remove unwanted frequency components (i.e., frequency ranges) from signals in the range of 20 to 20,000 Hz (i.e., the audio spectrum). Sound filters typically pass through desired frequency ranges while attenuating undesired frequency ranges. Some sound filters may be capable of passing (either serially or in real-time) multiple frequency bands, splitting the audio signal into separate components. Sound filters are frequently supplied as a component of or are used with sound level meters.
