  • Devices designed to function as the skin barrier component of a two-piece ostomy appliance . Two-piece ostomy appliance wafers typically consist of a swatch of bandage-like material with a central hole to accommodate the stoma. These devices typically incorporate a pressure-sensitive adhesive-coated side intended to be applied to the peristomal skin and a pouch-coupling side designed to allow attachment of a compatible ostomy collection bag. Two-piece ostomy appliances may be joined using either an adhesive or a plastic coupling consisting of interlocking rings on the skin-adhered wafer and pouch. Two-piece ostomy appliance wafers may be pre-cut to fit stomas of a certain size or adjustable to fit stomas of various sizes (i.e., cut-to-fit or moldable).
