Tissue sealants comprised of two components, albumin (typically bovine serum albumin) and an amine-reactive crosslinker (e.g., glutaraldehyde, polyaldehyde). When the two components are combined, glutaraldehyde or polyaldehyde promotes crosslinking between lysine residues of albumin and lysine residues of tissue proteins, creating a mechanical seal. These sealants are typically supplied in two-barrel syringes with an applicator tip that mixes the two components at the time of application.
