A group of muscles located in the posterior compartment of the forearm that allow dorsiflexion of the wrist, as well as other movements of the wrist and fingers. The wrist extensors, including the extensor carpi radialis longus, extensor carpi radialis brevis, extensor digitorum, extensor digiti minimi, extensor carpi ulnaris, extensor indicis, extensor pollicis longus, extensor pollicis brevis, and abductor pollicis longus muscles, originate on the posterior ulna and radius, and the distal humerus, and insert into the backs of the carpals, metacarpals and phalanges.
