PropertyValue
?:definition
  • A vaccine consisting of a lipid nanoparticle (LNP) encapsulating a messenger RNA (mRNA) encoding the full-length, prefusion stabilized spike (S) protein of SARS-CoV-2, with potential immunizing activity against SARS-CoV-2. Upon administration of the LNP-encapsulated mRNA-based SARS-CoV-2 vaccine mRNA-1273, the lipid nanoparticle binds to the plasma membrane of cells and releases the mRNA into the cells. The mRNA is then translated by ribosomes to produce the SARS-CoV-2 S protein. This may activate both humoral and cellular immune responses which may result in protection against SARS-CoV-2 infection.
