Surgical scissors designed to be used via the working channel of an endoscope or via a laparoscopic access device (i.e., trocar). These scissors are typically handheld, manual instruments with two metallic (e.g., stainless steel) blades that cut tissue or other material by shearing action. Endoscopic scissors typically incorporate ringed handles at their proximal end designed to allow blade actuation. Endoscopic scissors may also include proximal controls that allow for rotation and/or flexion of the distal blades. Some endoscopic surgical scissors include a power cord and appropriate insulation to allow for electrosurgical cutting and/or coagulation.
